Artificial trees at LYKKE Hôtel & Spa Chamonix is a theming project delivered during the comprehensive redevelopment and rebranding of the former Mercure hotel in Chamonix, France. The project was completed at the end of 2023, and Skalisty's scope covered the construction of 13 artificial trees, which became distinctive interior elements of the four-star hotel located at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif.
The interior concept references an enchanted forest, Scandinavian aesthetics and Nordic legends. Each tree received an individual form, a carefully sculpted bark structure and a finish matched to the fairy-tale character of the space. Mysterious faces were subtly hidden in some trunks, giving the decorations symbolic identity and strengthening the feeling of entering a living, mythical forest.
The interior design was prepared by Airndesign Consulting, while we delivered the artificial trees in cooperation with ART Stepanov. The scope included building the structures, shaping the volumes, hand-recreating wood and bark textures and applying the final finish to all elements. The decorations were also matched to the architecture and interior lighting, which emphasize their spatial and mystical character.
A key challenge was the short delivery schedule. Works began on 25 November and lasted 20 days, and all elements had to be completed before the hotel opened for the winter season. Efficient organization, team coordination and experience in unusual large-scale decorations made it possible to finish the project on schedule.
The LYKKE Hôtel & Spa project shows how artificial trees and interior theming can build a recognizable hotel identity. Rather than serving only as decoration, the trees create immersive scenery that introduces guests to a world of fairy tales, nature and Nordic stories, enriching the stay from the first contact with the interior.
