Garden in the Alps is a private project completed in Uttendorf, Austria, in the Salzburg region. Its goal was to clad concrete retaining walls decoratively using artificial rock technology. The project was completed in 2021 and covered a total of 230 m² of rock decorations, creating a coherent, naturalistic setting for a garden located in an alpine landscape.
The scope included cladding the retaining wall surfaces around the garden located at level +2, building rock decorations in the terrace zone and constructing an artificial cave in the spa zone with a jacuzzi tub. By using artificial rocks, the concrete technical infrastructure was aesthetically concealed and transformed into a landscape element that fits naturally into the character of the garden.
The project shows how artificial rocks in a garden can serve decorative, masking and architectural functions at the same time. The retaining wall cladding gave the space a more natural character, while the rock cave beside the spa zone created an intimate relaxation area inspired by mountain scenery. This is an example of using concrete decoration technology to improve the aesthetics of a private project and harmoniously connect architecture with its surroundings.
