Project Overview

The Argus Aviary at Warsaw Zoo is a distinctive project in which functional modernization of the space was combined with realistic theming inspired by the temples of Angkor in Cambodia. The project involved connecting two independent enclosures and creating coherent scenery for birds, combining artificial rocks, architectural reproductions, plant elements and illusionistic painting. We built a wall imitating temple ruins made of rock blocks, a Buddha head sculpture, reliefs on the installation enclosure, a temple gate, a pond for birds and exits leading to the outdoor part of the aviary. Another important element was an artificial tree with an extensive root system and a mural depicting jungle and fig tree roots, painted to give the space depth and a three-dimensional character.

The project shows how large-scale concrete decorations, artificial rocks for zoos and themed scenery can enrich exhibition space, giving it a natural, attractive and authentic character. By combining technology, artistic craft and delivery experience, the space supports the needs of the zoological facility while creating an engaging experience for visitors.
